Which format should I use?
JPG is best for photos. Files are small and every device can open them, but JPG has no transparency.
PNG is best for screenshots, logos, text and game sprites. It is lossless and keeps transparency, but photos become large files.
WebP is a modern format that is smaller than both, and it supports transparency. It is great for websites.
Common conversions
- WebP to PNG or JPG: for apps and editors that cannot open WebP images saved from websites.
- PNG to JPG: to make large photos smaller for email or upload limits.
- JPG to PNG: before editing, so further saves don't lose quality.

How do I convert WebP to PNG?
Drop the WebP file above, choose PNG and click Download.
Why is my converted PNG bigger than the JPG?
PNG stores every pixel exactly, so photos become larger. Converting JPG to PNG cannot restore detail that JPG removed, but it stops further losses.

JPG cannot store transparency, so those areas are filled with the background color you pick (white by default).
